Event Trading : Profiting from Economic Reports and Short-Term Market Inefficiencies by Ben Warwick.
As experienced traders can attest, news events often mark the beginning or culmination of major trends. Event trading is a new and exciting technique to trade the financial and commodity markets, and represents a third major approach to trading, distinctly different from the fundamental and technical approaches. Designed to capture profits from the market reactions to news events, events trading provides a systematic approach for exploiting a variety of market-moving events, such as economic reports, official interest rate changes, and surprises in corporate earnings reports.

Analyzing and Forecasting Futures Prices : A Guide for Hedgers, Speculators, and Traders (Wiley Finance Editions) by Anthony Herbst.
Book News, Inc., 06/01/92: Herbst (business administration, U. of Texas) reveals techniques by which the speculator in the futures market can predict prices. The trick is to find evidence of cycles in price series data, gauging the significance and estimating the parameters of those cycles, then combining them into a future curve. The calculations can be done with a spreadsheet on a personal computer. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
The author, 07/28/96: Author's Comments on the book This reference contains detailed explanations and examples of futures trading techniques used by professional traders and advisors like Paul Tudor Jones, Walt Bressert, and Peter Eliades. While traditional technical analysis techniques can be useful, they are not much help in anticipating the market's direction. Analyzing and Forecasting contains examples of how to use spreadsheet programs to learn about cycles in the markets, and shows how programs available from the author can be used to perform detailed cycle analysis, validation, and forecasting. Much of the material it contains is available in no other current book. Peter Borish has remarked that the techniques illustrated in this book are among the most important futures market trading tools available. Topics include money management; visual and manual methods for finding cycles; finding cycles with a computer; judging whether or not a cycle is significant; moving averages, filters, and turning points; forecasting with cycle combinations; maximum entropy spectral analysis with linear prediction; comprehensive case study; and using cycles for spread trading and hedging.
